Last year was a challenging time for the global gaming industry as it fought to overcome the difficulties brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. Around the world, gaming operators on all levels suddenly found themselves thrust into a precarious situation, performing a tenuous balancing act as they tried to overcome hurdles while still developing the growing gaming market.
The SAGSE Awards were dedicated last year to those entities and individuals who helped keep the industry moving forward, and Latin American sports gambling and iGaming operator Betcris was selected to receive an award in two separate categories.
Overcoming the challenges brought about by the coronavirus pandemic has not been an easy task for anyone, which is why the SAGSE Awards 2020 specifically emphasized and highlighted those gaming industry players who were able to make the biggest difference. The awardees are selected through open and democratic elections and focus on social responsibility, health and safety and innovation.
In the Online Leader category, Betcris Head of Business Development Fernando Garita was chosen as one of the top five in the industry. Garita has spearheaded a number of new initiatives not only for Betcris, but for the entire Latin American gaming industry. These have been designed to give gaming operators methods and solutions to overcome the COVID-19 challenges, as well as to continue ensuring the industry doesn’t falter from its mission of offering a transparent and compliant gaming experience for gaming enthusiasts in the region. He has participated in a number of conferences and round tables to discuss how the industry is evolving and what can be done to keep it on track.
Betcris was also chosen as the Best Sports Betting Operator in Latin America at the SAGSE Awards 2020. The operator has been fundamental to the growth of the gaming industry throughout the entire region, serving as a cornerstone of its collaborative efforts to provide seamless integration of gambling options across the different countries in Central and South America. It has continued to adhere to that mission in spite of the difficulties from last year, determined to ensure the industry succeeds.
Explains Monografie VP Alan Burak of the awards, “Despite the monumental obstacles faced by physical and online operators, suppliers and regulators, the industry as a whole has proven to be able to make the most of opportunities to get out of the crisis.” He adds, “SAGSE Awards 2020 recognizes last year’s most outstanding companies, which have led this industry’s journey towards recovery.”
